DuPont, a leading innovation and market-driven science company, will present four technical papers on leading clean technologies and extensively discuss key sustainability solutions during the 1st Middle East Process Engineering Conference & Exhibition (MEPEC) taking place from October 23rd to 26th, 2011 at the Gulf International Convention Centre, Gulf International Hotel, Manama, Bahrain.
MEPEC will be attended by DuPont Senior leadership team including Dr.Doug Muzyka, Senior VP of Chief Science & Technology Officer, Dr.Krishna Doraiswamy, Innovation Planning Manager, DuPont Central Research and Development and Baligh Aba-Hussain, Country Manager - Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Dr. Muzyka will also deliver a keynote speech at the inaugural conference. Andrew Tyas, Regional Engineering Manager, DuPont Clean Fuels Technologies, will present operational efficiencies of IsoTherming® Hydroprocessing Technology forming part of the DuPont™ Clean Technologies Portfolio. IsoTherming® is a low cost hydroprocessing technology that requires less capital and operating costs compared to conventional hydrotreating due to the elimination of the expensive recycle compressor and all its associated equipment. DuPont will also discuss its latest safety, reliability and performance improvements to the STRATCO® Sulphuric Acid Alkylation Technology it acquired in 2003. The alkylation process is a preferred technology for producing clean fuels.
“Sustainability has become a top priority for the process industry, especially in regions such as the Gulf that hosts world’s biggest oil and gas reserves. DuPont has the experience and the expertise to put its innovative science to work so that human health, safety and the environment is not compromised throughout the processing lifecycle. MEPEC is an exciting new platform for us to bring our proven sustainability solutions to the Gulf and beyond as we pursue zero waste generation at the source,” said Ricardo Brahim, Oil & Gas Industry Leader, Middle East. The various treatment options for the H2S and SO2 offgas released by the oil and gas industry will also be presented by Wim Kint, Business Development Director at MECS, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Mr. Kint will outline the challenges and benefits of offgas solutions along with their capital and operating costs and how these compare to conventional technologies. “Sustainability Planning: Unlocking the value for businesses,” a technical presentation will be shared by Kaushik Das, Practice Leader, Sustainable Operations, Turkey, Middle East, North Africa & Pakistan highlighting key elements of the sustainability planning process that drive long-term business value.
DuPont is currently in a third phase of sustainable growth that considers safety and environmental protection as market-driven business fundamentals throughout its global value chain. In 2010, the company was able to reduce its energy consumption by 6 per cent since 1990 and derive 6 per cent of its total energy from renewable. DuPont’s 2015 Sustainability Goals currently span all of its operations, from R&D to manufacturing and marketing. The theme of 1st MEPEC will be ‘Towards Technological Excellence and Innovative Solutions.’ The Conference will cover Troubleshooting, Debottlenecking and Capacity Increase; Process Modeling and Optimization; Supply Chain Optimization; Performance Management; Quality Improvements; and Green Processing and Sustainability.
